How to Create Ghostly Dollar Store Halloween Book Stacks

This tabletop decorative book accent is perfect for lending your Halloween décor a haunting touch.
Place it on your living room coffee table surrounded by pumpkins or candles for a frightful look!
Tools and Materials:
- Hard cover books
- Paint
- Twine
- Wooden ghost
- Ribbon
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
1. Prepare Your Wooden Ghosts
To begin, place the wooden ghosts on your books to determine your desired layout.
If the ghosts don’t fit nicely, use your scissors to trim them to the appropriate size.
Mine cut pretty easily with regular scissors.
2. Paint the Ghosts
Once you have the layout you want, paint the ghosts white.
I used spray paint outside, but you can also use regular paint and a paintbrush.
3. Paint the Books
While the ghosts are drying, paint your books if they aren't in your preferred colors.
I used whatever books I had, so I painted them all.
Make sure to paint the edges and the back as well.
4. Add Ribbon to the Books
Take some ribbon and glue it onto the edges of the books.
Start by folding the cut side down for a clean edge, then glue that to the spine of the book.
This was my middle book, so it didn’t matter if there was a rough edge down the sides of the ribbon; you will only see the outside since this book is sandwiched between the other two.
5. Attach the Ghosts
Once the ghosts are dry, glue them onto your boos using hot glue.
6. Secure the Book Stack
Then, take your twine and wrap it around the stack of books to keep them together.
Go around three times and tie a knot.
7. Add Titles
Add some titles to the books. I used vinyl for mine, but you can also use a paint pen to handwrite the titles.
I added "Ghost" and "Halloween," leaving the middle one plain as it has the ribbon.
Here it is all done!
I love black and white Halloween decor! What do you think?
