Faux Leather Coffee Table.

This cast away coffee table was the ultimate clean slate. I sanded it before I remembered to take a photo. But I promise you, it didn't look much better than this when I got it.
After sanding, I cut and pasted this paintable wallpaper. The design on it reminded me of some leather I'd seen used on a dresser that I could have never afforded.
Next, time to paint. This was where I really had to go with my gut. The color I used was a bit obnoxious, but I was hopeful that glazing it was going to give me the color I was shooting for in the end.
See? Yukk. Fingers crossed....lets glaze it.....
Getting there...now is the time to decide when enough is enough....
Now. This has darkened it just enough for me. It has the aged leather look that I was hoping for.
A couple of coats of poly over all and then I added upholstery tacks. Voila! Free coffee table is now a favorite piece of furniture. Now it can age gracefully.

I also forgot to ask did you use wallpaper paste
Great idea. Did you have to fold the edges of the paper under to get the nice finished look?
What color of paint and glaze did you use?
